Math Tools

Watch the Math Tools Video (Links to an external site.) (1.5 minutes) under the Education Tools Tab.

Tools include: compass, protractor, and ruler. Access the tools by clicking Menu>tools>Accessories.

Click on a gray area of the compass and drag it to relocate it.
Click and drag the Rotation Handle to rotate the compass without drawing an arc.
Change the radius by clicking and dragging the Radius Handle and the Compass Arm Handle. The radius is displayed in the white box on the compass.
Grab the Pen Handle and drag to draw an arc. The angle of the arc is displayed in the yellow box.
After drawing an arc you can use the Selection tool to select it and then access the Object Properties widget in the Properties tab to change the link color/width/type and more.

Click and drag the protractor to relocate it.
Click and drag one of the yellow handles to resize the protractor.
Click and drag one of the white rotation handles to rotate the protractor.
Click and drag the angle guides line handles to line them up with what you want to measure. The angle will be displayed in the white box.
To draw the angle displayed on the protractor, use the normal pen tool to trace the angle guides on the protractor. The lines will snap to the protractor angle guides.

Click and drag the ruler to relocate it.
Use the yellow handles to resize the ruler.
Use the white handles to rotate the ruler.
Drag the large dark measuring handles to align with what you want to measure.
To draw a line using the ruler, use the normal pen tool to trace the ruler edge. The lines will snap to the ruler. The line will stop at the end of the ruler, even if you draw past it.
